Love Your Bike Portsmouth - Update

Bike culture is an important part of cycling and regaining the streets. Love Your Bike Portsmouth aims to encourage participants to fully embrace the possibilities of connecting with their bikes and explore the many ways that they can improve it’s appearance and design.

As part of a day event and showcase you will be offered the chance to ‘Customise Your Bike and in turn ‘Love Your Bike’.
Demonstrations will be staged by local and national artists and designers who will offer sessions in customisation and collaboration. International designer Ben Wilson will be welding bikes at the skatepark and also showcasing some of his work. There will be a wide selection of bikes and accessories available for purchase to suit all budgets. Local artists and designers will be involved with helping paint frames and customise bike parts. Does your bike need a make-over?

Free cyclist bags will be given out at the event filled with spoke cards (featuring work by 20 artists across the city), stickers and a specially designed newspaper by I Love Dust which features 50 cyclists and their stories from around the city.

Watch out for our Love Your Bike custom tags around the city. If you have been tagged then please send your pics to us and also turn up at the event to showcase your bike or have it customised. Debenhams, Southsea and Bellamy’s Antiques in Albert Road have both been given a ‘Love Your Bike’ make-over so make sure you check them out.

Lance Armstrong - I guess Landis's comments were playing on his mind.

Seven-time Tour de France winner Lance Armstrong on Thursday dismissed an accusation by disgraced cyclist Floyd Landis that Armstrong had doped and schooled him in doping methods.

"We have nothing to hide," Armstrong said in Visalia, California, prior to the fifth stage of the Tour of California. "We have nothing to run from."

Armstrong, flanked by RadioShack team manager Johan Bruyneel as he addressed a clutch of reporters, questioned Landis's credibility.

"It's our word against his word," Armstrong said . "I like our word. We like our credibility."

U.S. media reported Thursday that Landis, who lost his 2006 Tour de France title after a positive drug test, admitted systematic doping and accused former teammate Armstrong of doing the same in emails he sent to cycling officials and sponsors.

Sports news site ESPN.com said Landis confirmed to them that he had sent the emails admitting the use of performance-enhancing drugs, saying he wanted to "clear my conscience."

"With regards to the specific allegations, the specific claims, they're not even worth getting into it," Armstrong said. "I'm not going to waste my time or your time."

Landis lost an appeal before the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), which threw out his case in June 2008 and ordered him to pay $100,000 in judicial costs to the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency.

Landis's attempts to clear his name are believed to have cost him some $2 million (1.6 million euros).

"I think history speaks for itself here," Armstrong said. "We don't know what he did or didn't do during the Tour. We followed the case, followed all the drama with regards to the (Landis) case. And now we see something different."

Giro d'Italia - Starts Saturday

With 3 weeks of some of the world’s most beautiful and difficult terrain on offer, who will take the legendary maglia rosa—the pink jersey awarded to each day’s leader—by the time race concludes in Verona?

Cavendish dropped.......... Wiggins `just using it as a training session'?, Like it or not, Alexandre Vinokourov is back and in-form following his two-year doping suspension. My tip is Cadel Evans or the obvious Cervelo’s Carlos Sastre but lets wait and see.
